Computing Power for Rugged Environments
The DDC is a rugged and configurable computer for military, aerospace and industrial applications. It is a drop in replacement for the AEGIS Operational Readiness Test System and so much more.
The IXI Technology Data Display Computer™ (DDC) is a general-purpose computer ideally suited for military, aerospace, or industrial applications. It is a direct replacement for the OJ-454(V)/UYK Data Display Computer and ORTSNET Workstation. It is designed to run the Navy’s ORTS Network Emulation Terminal (ORTSNET) software, providing status, maintenance direction, fault reporting, indication and display, and readiness assessment of the AEGIS Weapon System. While rugged in construction, the DDC makes maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf components so that it can be readily configured for specific applications. It will compute with Windows, Linux, Solaris, and other operating systems.
Ready for Rugged Shipboard Environment
The DDC fits within the physical footprints of the OJ-454 and ORTSNET Workstation ensuring that it can be mounted wherever they currently exist. It is also plug-compatible so existing cables can be connected without having to be rebuilt. Connection to the ORTS computer is provided by the MIL-STD-1397C NTDS Parallel Type B channel. Dual copper Ethernet and dual fiber Ethernet connections provide ample options for LAN connectivity.
The DDC is designed with positive mechanical retention and bracing to allow COTS components to survive in rugged environments. The shipboard version of the DDC has been tested and qualified for shipboard use including shock, vibration, temperature, humidity, EMI, airborne and structure borne noise, altitude, and drip. Standard Product Features
The DDC features a large, high resolution 19” (diagonal) display for optimal viewing. It has a backlit 102-key keyboard with tactile feedback and a three-button HULA pointing device. The keyboard and pointing device are environmentally sealed and can be operated with gloves on. It comes with one BD-DVD drive and can have up to two removable solid state hard drives. A rear-mounted USB port provides connectivity to any compatible peripheral device. Audio communications are supported with microphone and headphone jacks and an integrated speaker provides for audible alarms. Dual copper Gigabit Ethernet ports provide LAN connectivity through locking sealed connectors.
Configurable and Upgradable
The DDC’s general purpose design allows it to host virtually any application. It can be configured with an upgraded CPU, expansion cards, mass storage devices, and connectors as required. Other I/O options are available such as MIL-STD-1397C NTDS, ATDS TADIL A, MIL-STD-1553, IRIG-B,dual fiber Ethernet, and others. The rear panel has multiple connector plates that can be customized for specific connector combinations.
Designed for Ease of Maintenance
By simply releasing the front panel thumbscrews, the display and electronics chassis rolls out for maintenance. When extended, it locks in the open position for personnel safety. The DDC requires no periodic maintenance except for annual cleaning of the air filters, which are washable and reusable. The unit is air cooled with intake ports on the bottom and exhaust on the rear.
